3/16/2023 0 Comments GNOSIS: SCIENCE OF REVELATIONThe word “gnosis” is Greek for knowledge. It is a knowledge that is arrived to through direct experience, wherein one has an intimate connection to it.
Gnosis goes beyond belief. Beliefs by definition are things that we do not know. Many people equate belief to faith, but faith also goes beyond belief. Inherently, most people lack the language and dialectic to discuss their spiritual processes concretely. We attain gnosis through the apprehension of Truth. Truth being “what is unknown from moment to moment” according to Samael Aun Weor. Truth is at all times self-revelatory. In order to apprehend it we must:
BE IN THE MOMENT To be in the moment we must first be in a state of self-remembering. This means that we are in a reflective state as opposed to being in a reactive state where we are mechanically reacting in thought, emotion, or action to the stimuli of our environment. We need our minds and hearts to be still. We are not projecting the past, we are not living a future that hasn’t yet unfolded. BE FREE FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL BIASES Personal biases are very difficult to see because they are the basis of our psychological reality. The way we view the world affects the actions we choose to take, and there are many ways that our biases and expectations re-perpetuate the circumstances of our perceived reality. They re-perpetuate our karma (the cycles of cause and effect in our lives). They blind us to the ever-unfolding Truth. It is a matter of perspective. Not precise perspective, but open. BE OPEN TO THE UNEXPECTED Most truths that we allow ourselves to receive are usually straightforward once we are comfortable in accepting that we may have been wrong. For those needing to hear this: It is okay to be wrong. Celebrate being wrong because the path is now set before you to create new circumstances. But sometimes in this process we are able to receive special gifts such as the apprehension of a Truth with little context to our cognitive capacities that is absolutely stunning in its resonance of Virtue. This is called intuition. Most people feel intuition as something synonymous with making correct predictions of the statistically probable, but that is not what intuition is at all. Intuition is a faculty of the heart that needs to be rediscovered and cultivated. We can know when we experience it when it comes to us as a surprise that descended from a perspective beyond the one we inhabit. Intuition is always unexpected.
